In my most recent series “Sunscapes”, I use acrylic paint, medium and texture to explore scenes and patterns in nature such as sunsets and sunrises. Though my subject matter comes from nature, my compositions are heavily abstracted by repeating shapes and vectors that create motion and balance. I am inspired by naturally occurring lines in the environments around me, like a crack in a stone, or a beam of light cutting through the clouds. My series, “Sunscapes”, reflects a contemporary take on environment as a classical subject, inspired by ideas from Euclidean geometry. . . I began sculpting likenesses at three. Painting and drawing didn’t really become serious pursuits until I was five. I was trained in many techniques, mostly for “realistic” representational art - perspective, anatomy, color theory, etc. I began to design with type in the early 70s. In the 80s, I was trained in silkscreen, intaglio printing, stone lithography and sculpture in such media as concrete and steel. In the mid-80s I began designing movie posters - an obsession which persists to this day. I believe the core of my personal work is sculptural - even my painting. I work to invest time, which can never be replaced, in projects that will delight and inspire others.
This is my mission . . Skyoti Studios, LLC. is an art studio made up of two artists: Andrea and Bryan Allen (uncle / niece duo). OPEN365.

Art is powerful and the creation of art is a means of expressing and invoking power. I am not always aware of how my work might affect a viewer though it is my desire to create beautiful and evocative paintings that touch and inspire. Whether painting in a realistic style based on observation, or a more whimsical fashion using an intuitive approach, it is my goal to portray the subject’s soul beauty as well as their likeness. Once the painting is complete, the relationship between the viewer and the subject is out of my hands. OPEN365.

Ideas blossom, like opportunities of adventure on the open road. It is impossible to discover all roads at once, so I take notes and draw maps for future exploration. I jot down line drawings on hot pink Post-it notes, and the surge of new ideas germinates. My work is inspired by the canyons and peaks of cityscapes, geologic rock formations, and observations of both human-made and natural structures that reveal layers of history and time. I use 18k and 22k gold, oxidized sterling silver, stainless steel wire, and unusual stones in raw, faceted, and smooth surfaces. My jewelry is fabricated and forged by hand, like the structures that are its inspiration, viewed as silhouettes on the horizon. OPEN365.

I make decorative and functional vessels that are made mostly from local clays. I try and convey an "ancient elegance" by combining surfaces that have depth and patina with more modern shapes and patterns. When I'm not at the Raku kiln I enjoy working with smaller porcelain and stoneware pieces. OPEN365.

Well-known ceramic artists, Frank Willett and Luisa Baldinger, have produced their beautiful functional and sculptural vessels in a more than forty-year collaboration. "We have always striven for excellence in our work, keeping it lively, fun and beautifully made." Frank Willett passed in October, 2020. Luisa continues the tradition: porcelain and stoneware wheel-thrown and hand-built pottery, high fired and saggar-fired.

I am an abstract Realist, Colorist and Plein Air Painter. Born in Western New York state, I spent my childhood growing up in the dusty plains of Southeast New Mexico where I gained an early appreciation of the unique magical beauty of the desert light. I work on landscapes, structures and abstract forms. I particularly love to paint old traditional structures when I venture out to paint. I have no artsy words to describe why I paint. It is an enjoyable itch that I have to continually scratch. I love the sun and the high desert and that special ambience that only New Mexico can offer.

The Sound of Art-Making . . . Music in Helen’s studio orchestrates how her brush combines glue and acrylics into unique collage paintings. Music is her inspiration that allows ideas to flow into the final work. Each painting is a new discovery and she enjoys the process of illustrating her vision. To begin, her vine charcoal drawing lays out the plan for how she develops and creates a work that has action or has an active relationship among elements. After her charcoal drawing has been transferred to a wood panel, an acrylic painting is done on the panel which creates a definitive plan for the next steps. It is like writing a score that describes how each collage painting needs to sound. Creating the best beat for each part of the work is instrumental in successful art-making.
