Creativity with Metals + Gemstones

Artist Statement

I have been making jewelry for over 20 years. My husband, Steve and I moved to Santa Fe in 2015 to retire and enjoy the area. After a career in the high country of Colorado doing statistical and demographic work for mountain communities, I was ready to finally have the chance to pursue some of my more creative inclinations. Making jewelry has always intrigued me. I like learning about the various gemstones and the types of properties that have been associated with them. I like the idea that they have served as talismans in many different cultures for centuries. My husband is a geologist and we like going to gem and mineral shows and finding some unique stones that are begging to come home with me. I then draw up some designs that complement the stone and make the magic happen! I experiment with different techniques and try to combine different elements together in creative ways. I have worked with wire wrapping, precious metal clay, patinas, etching, all types of beads and precious stones, metals including copper, silver and aluminum. I create unique bracelets, bolos, necklaces and earrings. I hope you enjoy my pieces. I enjoy making them and hope that anyone wearing my jewelry feels the love and creativity that went into each unique piece.
