Painting

Landscape/Wildlife

Artist Statement

A trained artist/illustrator from London, England, Shirley Lynn came to Santa Fe in 1987, and was immediately inspired by the New Mexico light and landscape. She was an illustrator for New Mexico Magazine for many years, while also contributing to other magazines and books. At the same time, she was painting and selling landscapes, but after an inspirational trip to the Galapagos Islands in 2006, she began painting wildlife in an attempt to raise awareness of what we are doing to our natural world. This led to a whimsical series of bears, moving back into their world that we have taken from them, reclaiming their environment here in Santa Fe! Currently she paints plein aire, and in her studio in Sunlit Hills, creating paintings for sale and selling reproductions in the form of cards and matted prints online from her website and at local shops and markets.
