I am an Abstract Expressionist working in collage with an emphasis on paper. To elaborate on that - I just have this thing about paper. It played into my work as a printmaker and has carried over when I began working in mixed media again. I have a great time experimenting with things made from paper, like maps, gift wrap or old photos. So when you meld that artist mark - scrawled, raw, and visceral across a panel and then add gorgeous chin Collé paper, I believe magic happens. And I always have to work in series. Maybe its the former printmaker, maybe its just a need to do something a few times. Those series are thought out and researched, all the panels collected, and photos prepped like I'm making something elaborate in the kitchen. Then and only then do I immerse myself into the work.
